if you can connect with your silver account, gold should work. People just haven't been able to connect to the service at all in some cases.
so stop paying for it if all you're going to do is b*tch about it every time it drops you.
It still has one of the best track records of any service available on the internet. If not being able to play a game online for 3 days is a deal breaker for you, you're going to be hard pressed to find a service you're not upset with.
What are these people supposed to do all weekend if not play XBL?! Play an offline game? see a movie?! hang out with real friends?!?! OR DARE I SAY IT! GO OUTSIDE?!?!?!?!?!
WHAT'S NEXT MICROSOFT??? WHAT IS NEXT?!
/sarcasm
it's 2-3 days. cry me a river. I guarantee that your ISP is worse than M$ as far as reliability, service time, and price are concerned.
look into it more.

360's third party sales revenue as of septemberish were more than twice as much as PS3's in the US.
EA had a funky reporting system that didn't include some multi-platform titles for the 360. Ubi released 3 games on PS3 to 2 on 360 for their european report where the ps3 outsold at around 3:2 (SHOCK!), Konami had MGS4 for PS3, ...
there are only peers once you are in the game. Connecting peers to other peers isn't handled by XBL nearly as much as the individual game. The connection to XBL is a dedicated server issue. The live servers get flooded and that's when people get booted. It has little to do with the P2P aspect of the service, as that wouldn't boot you from xbl, you'd just lose your connection to the host.
I'm sure it has a lot to do with them making sure their servers are ready for a 14 million us...
many times more impressed by DMM from lucasarts than this.
If this weren't in response to frostbite, DMM, or the extra destructibility in the unreal engine it would be a lot cooler. It does look beautiful, but they're showing up late to the party.
Also, no this is not only possible on the PS3. Look at the unreal destruction demo, it's practically the same, then look at DMM, which runs on both platforms and blows both of them out of the water.
October was a 4 week month, September was 5.
the PS3 actually sold 2% better per week in october than september.
They were both released on the 28th, and the sales for a single version of fallout 3 were more than 100k more than LBP.
Considering the buzz around both games, LBP should have sold a lot more.
Halo 3 sold almost 5 times as much ON IT'S FIRST DAY. I know it wouldn't sell that good, but considering this was the xbox killing game of this holiday, it should have done a lot better.
It came out the 28th, but so did fallout 3, and fallout 3 still outsold LBP with much less hype.
No it hasn't. YTD sales in NA are as follows:
Wii 5,981,000 (55.0%, +0.6%)
360 2,459,200 (22.6%, +0.7%)
PS3 2,441,400 (22.4%, -1.3%)
360 just pulled ahead in october, and if it stays ahead with this momentum, it'll probably come out over a couple hundred thousand if not more.
I am in a constant state of disbelief in how much the wii sells.
karma's a b!tch?
If I'm not going to use it, why should I pay for it? If I'm just driving my kids to school I don't need a Porsche. A honda or subaru will work fine, and they're not bad cars by any means when it comes down to it.
The LBP ads just flat out suck. They don't show any of the create or share aspects, which are many MANY times more appealing than the actual gameplay. Sony's marketing last year with the saliva song ads were great ads, this year's suck.
Alright. What you fail to account for is the third party multi-platform lineup, which sells easily more games on the whole than any exclusive lineup.
All of these games work in favor of the cheapest system. For the 360, you have the 360 exclusive lineup, and the multi-platform line up working in it's favor. From the mind of the consumer, it's hard to justify the extra money if you don't already have a vested interest in the established series for the PS3.
You're all ...
because they've been operating at a large loss since launch. the shareholders don't like it when you invest in a company that has a payoff 5-10 years down the road, but up till then you have to lose money.
Sony's worrying about number 1 right now, because, if they don't, they'll lose more money to shareholders. Not that they really have a choice. They didn't design a console that would turn a profit in a realistic time period this gen.
Also, M$ has had one goal since...
it was heckled for MANDATORY installs.
...in almost every visual thing ever made in the history of the world.
M$ doesn't need that many first party studios when they can just pay money or publish third party developers for exclusivity. They made a platform that's easy enough to develop for that they don't need as many interior studios to develop for their systems.
In the case of sony, they need those first and second party developers to actually do the research and make the new technology, because major multi-platform developers won't put major RnD into developing for a single platform. ...
